Welcome to our site. This is a site by five young guys who it would seem should be buying all the hype of the Emerging Church…except we aren’t. We are however big on the five solas:
Sola Scriptura: Scripture alone is the standard
Soli Deo Gloria: For the glory of God alone
Solo Christo! By Christ’s work alone are we saved
Sola Gratia: By grace alone we are saved
Sola Fide: Justification by faith aloneWe are also big on the idea of changing the world! So here is the deal: we really, really believe that orthopraxy is a part of orthodoxy! Those who know Jesus are being conformed to Jesus! We believe in helping the widow, feeding the hungry, and fighting for justice for the poor and disenfranchised. We also believe that racial reconciliation is a sign of the gospel revealed in the church! We think that the people of Jesus should be about redeeming and transforming neighborhoods to communicate and express God’s kingdom rule! We really, really believe and live these things..and not because we have “repainted” our faith but because we believe these to be the historic, orthodox truths of our faith. Not because we have discovered something new about Jesus but Because God in Jesus discovered, called and justified us for a life of good deeds. So you see it kinda ticks us off that a movement that has largely abandoned the Gospel is acting like they are the only ones who want to behave like Jesus!
This is our blog. Welcome to the garage.
BTW: The title of this post is stolen from the excellent (and soon to be reviewed here) book by Ted Kluck and Kevin Deyoung: Why We are Not Emergent.

So who is the 5th guy? I see four authors listed.

yay… another anti-emergent blog. I’d like to see a blog that doesn’t stand up and disassociate with people right off the bat.
Can someone…anyone… give spiritual content without spinning their opinion on what everyone else is doing? Just do your thing, not as a reaction, not out of disassociation.
Most people including emergent and fundy’s claim all the things in your post as what they are “all about”.

actually, if you notice, one guy is listed twice with a slightly different user name. I need to fix that

Jared: It’s not an anti-emergent blog..just an anti-emergent post. The Blog is a pro-personal reformation blog…it is about what God is doing in us and what God is teaching us. Some of that has to do with theology…so of which will seem anti-emergent. Keep in mind there are plenty of anti-reformed blogs out there as well. Also I am neither emergent nor a fundy, but I will bet you that there are people on both of those sides who want to disassociate from several things in this post. It’s new give us a day or two
.

I’ll take that any day.

No…I would say that is pretty accurate. (also for sake of not having to edit you I am going to assume that the “f” in “wtf” stands for frick).
